In the Workeey app
Open the menu at the top left and tap Settings, then Account & security, then Delete account. Type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete my account. Your account is deleted straight away.
Guests too: in its first two weeks, a guest account is deleted the same way, in the app or the browser where you started it.
Want a copy first? Export my data is on the same Account & security page, and the delete screen offers it too.
On workeey.com
Open workeey.com in your phone’s browser, sign in, and take the same steps: the menu, Settings, Account & security, Delete account.
If Workeey asks you to confirm your email first
If you started more than two weeks ago and your email is not confirmed, Workeey opens on one screen until it is: Confirm your email — or for a guest, who has no email yet, Save your work. That screen has no menu, but you can delete your account from it: tap Delete account at the bottom, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Delete my account. It is the same delete as the one in Settings, guests included, and it offers Export my data first too. Or:
- With an email on the account: tap Send the link, then the link in the email we send you. Workeey opens by itself, and the steps above are there again.
- Or tap Get support, write that you want your account deleted, and tap Send to us. It reaches us with your account’s name and email. A guest account has no email, so also write the date you started, as near as you can. Once we find the account, we delete it.
- Or email privacy@workeey.com, as the next part says.
If you can’t open Workeey
Email privacy@workeey.com and ask us to delete your account. Send it from the email address on your account. A guest account has no email address, so tell us the name you typed when you started and the date you started, as near as you can. We may ask you something more to make sure the account is yours, and once we are, we delete it.
If you pay for a plan
Deleting your account cancels a plan you bought from us, and the part of the period you have already paid for is not refunded. If the cancel does not go through, Workeey tells you so on screen — email support@workeey.com and we will cancel it.
What is deleted, and what is kept
Deleting erases your account, every client, job, invoice, note and expense, and every photo and video you uploaded. It cannot be undone, and we cannot bring it back for you. A few things are kept for a time. Our Privacy Policy sets them out under “How long we keep it”, and here is that part of it, word for word:
- Your business data: for as long as your account exists — unless something has to go because it is over a storage limit, which our Terms of Service explain.
- If you delete your account: removed from the live app straight away, subject to the exceptions in this list and below. Copies can remain in routine encrypted backups until those roll over. We may also keep information where the law requires us to, where we need it to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, or to prevent fraud or abuse of the service — and where we cannot fully delete something for technical or operational reasons, we isolate it from any further use until we can.
- Backups: deleted data may persist in encrypted backups until those backups roll over — our hosting providers’ own cycle, currently about 30 days.
- Records we must keep by law (for example, payment and tax records): for as long as the law requires or permits, and for as long after that as we need them to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, or to answer a regulator, an auditor or an insurer.
- Google Calendar events we mirror: only a limited window around today rather than your whole calendar history, refreshed as we sync, and deleted when you disconnect.
- Your Google connection and its tokens: for as long as the connection exists — deleted, and revoked at Google, when you disconnect.
- Voice recordings: not kept, unless you have turned on the diagnostic setting — clips filed that way are kept until you delete your account. The count of seconds you dictated is kept so we can show you what the feature costs.
- Your QuickBooks connection and its tokens: for as long as the connection exists — deleted when you disconnect.
- Diagnostic records of requests sent to an outside model — a short copy of what was asked, and of how our system handled it: for as long as your account exists, and deleted with it. Ordinary server logs are kept only for as long as our hosting and security providers hold them for us.
- Notification addresses: until you turn notifications off for that device, the device stops accepting them, or you delete your account. An address that has stopped working is marked dead and skipped.
- What your bank told us: about 90 days. After that we delete what your bank told us about your transactions — the transactions themselves, and the record of which ones we have already seen. That window is our current practice rather than a fixed term, and it can change. One exception is deliberate: where a deposit marked one of your invoices paid, we keep the minimum needed to show that the invoice was paid — on a date, for an amount — without the wording that named the payer. We keep that much because it is what lets us notice later that your bank has taken the deposit back, and tell you. A deposit that never paid anything is deleted outright.
- Some things that window does not cover. (1) The bank connection itself — the institution name and the read-only permission — is not on a clock; it lasts until you disconnect it or delete your account. (2) If a deposit is reversed, the warning written on that invoice repeats what your bank said and stays there, because the invoice is the record of what happened. (3) The sender names we learn to recognise a client by are kept on that client, and that window does not expire them. (4) Merchant names we learn the same way. (5) An expense you filed from a bank transaction: your bank’s wording becomes that expense’s description, and from then on it is your own bookkeeping — it outlives that window and it outlives disconnecting the bank. Each of these goes when you delete the record it sits on — the connection, the client, the invoice or the expense — and all of them go when you delete your account.
